The Catherine J. Malatesta Foundation exists to transform the lives of cancer patients and their families, fund research breakthroughs, and raise awareness for sarcoma and pediatric cancer. Every page of the site had to hold that mission with warmth — never clinical, never distant.
We led with a hopeful gold palette pulled from the childhood cancer awareness ribbon, paired it with elegant editorial typography, and organized the site around the moments that matter most: learning the story, attending an event, applying for the scholarship, and making a donation.
The challenge
Build a site that honors a family's grief and hope in the same breath — one that welcomes new supporters, guides scholarship applicants, and makes it effortless to give, all without losing the personal story at the heart of the foundation.
Our approach
A calm, hopeful design system anchored by the gold awareness ribbon, generous type, and a clear conversion path to Donate. Events, gallery, and scholarship each received their own space so the foundation's work is easy to explore and easy to support.

About the organization

The Catherine J. Malatesta Foundation was founded to honor Catherine's life and to carry forward the fight against the disease that took her. The foundation channels that love outward — funding research, easing the financial and emotional strain on families in treatment, and rallying the community through annual events.
Sarcoma is a rare cancer that disproportionately affects children and young adults, and pediatric cancer research remains chronically underfunded. CJMF exists to change both realities, one donation, one scholarship, one story at a time.
